We've registered!

Yesterday and today we registered for the baby. I knew that I really should be getting started with this, but didn't want to take any chances jinxing it. So this weekend Tom and I went to Babies R Us and Wal-mart and did our registry. I didn't realize how exhausting that can be and how difficult. There is so much out there that we're just not sure about (do we need it, is it something that we should just wait and get ourselves, etc.). Even on the way back from Wal-mart today I kept saying to Tom that I didn't even think to register for things in bigger sizes (onesies, etc.). I think we did okay, but am expecting all the veteran moms to help us fill in the gaps.

Yesterday was a little frustrating as we tried to register for items and I wanted to have a nursery theme of Sesame Street. I have wanted Sesame Street as a nursery theme since Tom and I got married and began talking about children (I must admit...I'm in love with Elmo!). It's a classic right? Anyway, we went to Babies R Us and there wasn't any Sesame Street nursery items anywhere in the store and when I asked someone the answer was, "We don't carry it." How can you not carry something as timeless as Sesame Street? Anyway, I was very disappointed not only because of that, but when we went to retrieve our list the woman at the registry counter said that some of the items we registered for were going to probably be discontinued. (Yesterday was a very difficult day). So we came back to Richmond a little bummed out, but none-the-less excited because we finally had a baby registry. I was determined to have the Sesame Street nursery I'd always wanted, so I began searching online for it. Believe it or not-Sesame Street is no longer as popular as what it once was. It was very difficult to find, but I did finally find a Sesame Street nursery set from Wal-mart (can you believe it?) and ordered it. It will be delivered to the store and all I have to do is pick it up. I'm so excited I can't hardly stand it! I've included a picture.

All in all I think we've done a pretty good job. I know there are things that I'd like to add to the registries, so I'll probably be doing that soon. Otherwise, hopefully, we have everything we need. Some things that the grandparents are purchasing I didn't put on the registry because I know we're getting them (crib, changing table, and dresser). One thing that is on the registry but is being purchased by a set of grandparents is the travel stroller. As a matter of fact, that's the item that may be discontinued. We didn't ask about the other items that match the stroller, but hopefully they will stay on our list for a while.
Hope this update satisfies the need to know more. We'll post again when we get a report from the doctor-August 4.

Glad to see that you are feeling alright. It is always exciting to get the nursery together for the first time, especially with the theme that you have dreamt of. Elmo- can never go wrong!!!!

Best of luck, and if you need anything, just call.

Vickie and Tom... It is so exciting to hear that you guys have registered for your baby. Even though it can be exhausting, I am sure you had a great time picking things out for Baby Avery. Vickie, you look great and yes, you are starting to show. How exciting!! Remember to take it easy...and don't over do it. Looking forward to seeing you soon...
