It's been 6 months already?!

Today was our 6 month check up and once again it was a good visit. There were a couple of questions I had this time and a couple of tests that will be done the next time I go. First, let me start out with the basics. The baby's heartbeat was at 152, which once again is consistent with what it's been all along. They took my blood pressure, both laying on my right side and laying on my back-both were good. I've also gained 6 pounds, which I could tell that I had gained some weight. My sugar was good and when the doctor came in and looked at my records his exact words were, "You go girl, you sure know how to do this." All I could think of was after 8 years of waiting I hope I do. :-) Anyway, the next time I go to the doctor will be on October 21 and 22. The 21 will be my 7 month appointment and I have to do a glucose test. If you've never had that done before, which I'm sure most of you have, they give me a bottle of orange liquid to drink (about the size of a mini water bottle) and then I wait an hour and they check my blood to see how it's reacting to all of the sugar. This sounds like great fun! :-{ I have to fast for 2 hours before I can drink this stuff. Even more fun! :-{ I will also have my checkup while waiting the hour before they can take my blood. The 22 I go back and have a Rhogram shot. This is because Tom has positive blood and I have negative blood. I should be used to needles by now, but I'm still a little nervous about that. The only good news is I have to wait 3 weeks before I get it. I can worry about it a little later.

Another thing that has changed is I'm now going to begin going every 3 weeks instead of every 4. Welcome to the 3rd trimester! The doctor also said that Tom and I should begin classes in November (maybe the end of October) since really if the baby decides to come early-December-we'll be ready. Now I know it's really getting close. It was reccommended that I get a flu shot, which is given through school so I can get it there-again more needles. I just hope I don't get the flu from it, which I've heard can happen.

Otherwise, things here are going well and we are getting more excited by the day of becoming parents to a child of our own. This has definitely been a journey and we've enjoyed every minute of it. By the way, I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing the baby's heartbeat. Everytime we visit the doctor and hear it it reminds us of what a miracle this is.

Keep positive thoughts and prayers coming-the end result is a dim light at the end of our tunnel, but so worth going towards.

Rhogram!! Been there, done that! Not bad at all. I think you get it in the rearend!!!!!! :(

Wow, it sounds like the doctor is extremely happy with your progress. Keep up the great work, and make sure Tom helps around the house so you don't start swelling. This is the time for all the changes... Hips will start to hurt. Feet will start to swell. If your wedding ring is a little tight now, I recommend replacing it with a cheap gold band a size larger, because the fingers GROW!!! Thoughts and prayers for a great 3rd trimester.

Anticipation...Yes the light at the end of the tunnel is starting to get brighter. :) Before you know it, your bundle of joy will be in your arms!!!(and waking you up in ther middle of the night) I'm so thankful that the doctor is pleased with how things are going. I'll be here/there if you need me for anything.
Love,
GG
