Collin is 1 month old today!

Collin is one month old today and Mommy and Daddy can't believe it! Where has this month gone. He is getting so big and we still can't stop staring at him. It has gotten a little more difficult in the past month to take care of him. Even though we haven't been to the doctor, we believe Collin has colic. He can cry for a couple hours at a time without being consolable. It can literally give us a headache and frustrate us so much. We have done really well with this and worked through it, Tom does a better job than I do, but it still is very difficult.

We have had a couple of milestones though since our last post. Collin is now taking a bottle. I am still breastfeeding, but the doctor suggested we supplement with formula. I have and since we've done that Collin sleeps almost through the night. We usually give him a bottle about 10:30 and most of the time he doesn't wake up until 4:00 or so. That's 5 1/2 hours! Now it's not always the case, but we're definitely seeing progress. Also, even though Collin is too young he has lived through his first snow storm. We're going to try and take a picture of that today (I'll have it posted next time). Another first for Collin-he's found his thumb.

We also have a new addition to our clan. Nothing like jumping in with both feet and treading water. We have a puppy. He is a miniature schnauzer and his name is Buddy (see picture below). He isn't quite sure what to make of Collin yet although he doesn't like it when Collin cries and is extremely afraid of strangers until he gets used to them.

As far as Mommy and Daddy are-we're doing well. I think I had some post-partum depression the first couple of weeks, anything would send me crying, but I'm doing better now. Not nearly as many tears (although you better ask Daddy to be sure). :-D

Seriously though, we're all doing well and so blessed to be a family. There is no doubt this is challenging and we've taken a lot on at one time, but I think there's a quote that says being a parent is the toughest job you'll ever love. I think we're beginning to see why.

HAPPY FIRST MONTH BIRTHDAY, COLLIN! We love you!

Happy one month, Collin! Ok, now my friend, you need to give your mommy and daddy a bit of a break. They fought hard for you, and deserve some peace and quiet to recharge their batteries. Be a good boy and keep sleeping through the night! Just think, a well-rested mom equals more fun and playtime for you!!!

Happy one month kiddo!

Can't wait to see my grandson this weekend(Go Cardinals!!)for your annual family Super Bowl Party. It's been two weeks since I've seen Collin and am anxious to see how he's grown. I'll also try to give him the "GG" touch so that Mommy and Daddy can take a break. You are both great parents and Collin is lucky to have you. I know the road is "ruff" sometimes, but it is sooooo worth every bump!!!
Love,
GG
